Veterinary radiologists are veterinarians that have completed a minimum of 3 additional years of specialty training in diagnostic image interpretation and image guided biopsy procedures. After a three year residency program, the radiologist must pass multiple written and oral examinations to become board certified by the American College of Veterinary Radiology. Second opinion evaluation of radiographs (x-rays) or other diagnostic images, by a board certified radiologist can help ensure no abnormalities are overlooked.
